Welcome to the Ministry of Music

At St. Mary’s we offer several ministries emphasizing quality liturgy and music which highlight the dynamics of our faith. We happily encourage anyone to participate.

THE PARISH CHOIR

St. Mary Parish Choir, in continuous ministry since 1972, seeks to lead and inspire the parish community through hymns, anthems and chant, supported by organ or piano.   Vocal and choral technique are taught throughout the season.   Rehearsals begin in September and continue on Wednesday evenings at 7:00  lasting an hour.  The Parish Choir sings on alternate Sundays from October through May.  Membership is open to all adults down through and including 6th graders.

FOLK GROUP

With various instruments such as guitar, piano, string bass, and tambourine this group is a less-formal music group that utilizes traditional hymns as well as newer more contemporary styled music. Adults and children from sixth grade and older are welcome. Practices are set as needed.

BELL CHOIR

The parish Hand Bell Choir is composed of volunteer ringers who are able to read musical notation and commit to a 9-week rehearsal schedule.  The Bell Choir enhances our liturgical celebration on Christmas Eve.  Rehearsals begin in mid-October.   Ringers learn technique, phrasing and musicality during each rehearsal session.  Membership is open to adults down through and including 6th graders.   Prospective ringers have the opportunity to sign up beginning in September.

FUNERAL CHOIR

The Funeral Choir is composed of volunteers who assist in the funeral liturgy through their singing. There are no practices involved; only the desire to make the funeral liturgy special to the family of deceased.
